For many years I've tried to write and perform songs about the human condition; broken hearts, loneliness, poverty, coal, tobacco, the culture of contraband from moonshine to pot and all the things poor people do and have done to get by. Too sad you say?
I don't think so. In desperation I find what is strongest and best about people and the American experience.
